Under 11’s 1st game v Grouville

Match report U11 vs Grouville

So we played our 1st game of the season against the new look Grouville FC, Grouville started off the brighter of the two teams we slowly started to find our our way into the game with some dogged defending from the back 4 Best, Conor Damo in the 1st quarter.

2nd qtr
We started to ease our way into the game getting on the ball more and more with the midfield generals Louis, Scott, Barry, Thomas, all working hard to stop Grouville getting the 1st goal! Jayden played the lone striker role really well holding the ball up and bringing The midfielders into play.

3rd Qtr

This period we really got a good foothold in the game battling for every 1st & 2nd ball with Grouville always looking dangerous on the attack!!

we manage to keep them at bay with some fantastic display defending in numbers and working hard as a team.
We made a few changes and the boys that came into the game did really well Joe and Jayden ran themselves into the ground giving everything for the cause.

4th Qtr

By this time the boys were dead on there feet but they managed to push Grouville back and through are pressing of the ball we made some ground and had some good efforts on goal.
Grouville were still looking dangerous, attacking us at every opportunity However each and every time they go through and they managed to get a shot off there was our main man Anders!!

Now if you don’t know much about Anders he’s our lion between the sticks, In my opinion this kid is one off the best keepers on the Rock he only stands 3ft tall but this boy is a great keeper already he saved us on numerous occasions, saving shots low high with no fear attacking forwards and dominating his box, his positioning and bravery earned him the man of the match award!!

I’m must also give a special mention to a lad who came into the team at short notice for the game and did exceptionally well, with his simple passing and great determination to help his team Louis Medwell had a great 1st game for the club, to be honest the team as a whole were faultless through hard word and determination and self belief and team work the boys pulled together to draw 0-0 with one of the top teams in our division.

I was so proud of the lads today. #hardwork + #teamwork = #results and a little bit of luck goes a long way too…

Kind regards

Barry Beatson
