Academy Welcome

A big welcome to all players and parents of the St Peter FC Academy to the 2020/21 season— the 102nd season of the Club.

St Peters FC Academy is delighted to welcome back all players and parents for the 2020/21 season. This has been a strange and hopefully an exceptional year. We trust all of you have come through COVID-19 unscathed and are ready to enjoy your football once again.

As always, the safety of our players and coaches will be paramount and we will need to follow some clear guidelines. For training, all players should arrive in their kit ready to start the session, they should bring the following with them: A full water bottle (clearly marked with the individual’s name), a small towel and an individual hand sanitiser. As the arrival and departure will need to be carefully managed, we ask for your help and co-operation by arriving no more than 10 minutes before the start time and at the end of the session depart as promptly as possible. Please use the one-way entry and exit system at St Georges car park.

At the start of each session, the coach will remind the players of the simple procedures that should be followed. He will also ask players to be signed in and out of each session with a parent contact number supplied for emergency purposes.

We need to ensure that we have the necessary up-to-date information for each of our players and if you haven’t already completed a registration form please complete one at the first training session. We would also appreciate the seasons club subscription being paid if you haven’t already done so. Payments can be made online via our web site, click on subscriptions 2020/21, move to Academy click the red subscription link and follow the instructions. This is the easier and preferred method but if you prefer, payment can be made by bank transfer direct to the Academy Account or by cheque made payable to ‘St Peter FC Academy’. The registration form has full details.

Monthly Draw:

We would also like to draw your attention to our monthly draw, which helps the Club and provides each entrant with the opportunity to win several prizes from £10 to £50 every month for 10 months for an outlay of just £10 for the season. This equates to just a £1 a draw. Half of all monies collected are guaranteed to be used as prize money. Entry forms will be available from your coach or can be downloaded from our web site.

Online Shop:

We also take this opportunity to remind you of our online club sports shop, which supplies high-quality Nike items at advantageous prices, everything can be seen and purchased via the link on the web site ( https://www.clubwebshop.com/a-z/clubs/stpeterfc/). If you need assistance or guidance please feel free to contact our Academy Secretary, Mary Pack email: mary@ssc.je

Season Information:

We look forward to an exciting season ahead with everyone performing to the best of their ability. We want all our players, above everything, to enjoy their football as that is the very best environment for them to learn and develop their abilities. It is important that we always play the game in the right spirit and set the example to other clubs by showing respect and sportsmanship to our opponents and officials at all times.

We always welcome new players to St Peter in all age groups, however, we would particularly like to add players to our U14, U15 and U16 squads. We would welcome and indeed ask for your support, in bringing this opportunity to the attention of any youngster who would like to enjoy his football and improve his game. Please contact Rui Marques on 07797 790388 or email rui.marques1991@hotmail.co.uk

This season our aim will be first and foremost, that all of our players enjoy their football both playing and the coaching sessions. It is important that you always listen carefully to your coaches and if anything isn’t clear, they will want you to let them know.

Remember at St Peter we set the standard for always playing the game in the right spirit.

Please remember to accept the referee’s decisions and never argue with them. Whilst we always go onto the pitch with the intention of winning, sometimes we will come up against teams who on the day may play better than us. Always respect your opponents and shake their hands and those of the officials, both before and after the game.

We have some very fine players in our Academy throughout all of the age groups and providing you listen carefully to your coaches and show determination and commitment, you can only continue to improve.

We are extremely proud of the fact that over the last couple of months 8 of our Academy players have either signed for professional clubs are have been invited to trial with them.

Our Under 18’s have been outstanding over the past 4 seasons and have been Jersey Champions in each of those years. Last season this group of players won every match they played in Cup and League in the Channel Islands including becoming Channel Island Champions by beating the champions of Guernsey and going on to beat the rest of Jersey.

We will also again be entering this team into the Kent FA County U 18 Youth Cup, a competition that has 64 entrants. Last season we reached the semi-final and although it’s a big ask, I am sure this year’s squad will be aiming to at least get to the final.

At the younger ages we want above all for you to develop your game, both with individual skills and concentration on teamwork. We want you to express yourself on the field of play. We appreciate during the learning process mistakes will be made. Whilst its our aim and its nice to win, the real gain is when you continue to improve as a player. The competitive element comes with our U 15 , U 16’s and U 18’s when winning becomes a priority whilst continuing to play the game in the right spirit.

We will continue to build on our relationship with Gillingham FC, as this offers our young players the opportunity to experience exactly what becoming a professional footballer entails. You spend time as a member of the Gillingham Academy and will represent them in a competitive match. It is also the perfect stage to demonstrate to them, the talent we have at St Peter.

We have some fine players emerging throughout all age groups and we will be doing everything to ensure that we harness that talent and that they continue to progress to the next level.

Head Coach, Rui Marques and his coaching team are looking forward to meeting up with their respective squads and to unleashing all that inbuilt energy that we are sure has been building up. Whilst the older age groups have already resumed training, our younger age groups will be back in action from WC Monday 7th September. If any questions remain unanswered please either contact your coach or the enquiries section of our web site and we will respond as swiftly as possible.

A final thanks to all the parents for your patience and understanding and for all the help you give to the Academy in so many different ways.
Best wishes to you all, Players, Parents, Coaches and all helpers.
Good luck for the season, our aim is progress and above all to ensure the enjoyment of the beautiful game.

Best wishes
