Under 15’s report v St Pauls

> The U15s bounced back from the shock of being dumped out of the cup by putting in a solid performance on Sunday afternoon.

St Paul’s put St Peter under a lot of pressure in the first 20 minutes as the boys struggled to get the ball out of the middle of the park, not helped by the congested pitch with St Paul’s playing 5 in the middle. Stephen, Johnny, Myles and Tom battled hard at the back but where eventually undone by great header from St Paul’s captain.

St Peter’s response was very positive. The boys started to get the ball wide, Kerr struck a

screamer from 25 yards out which was destined for the top right hand corner only to be saved…against all the odds, the keeper was having a good afternoon.    Steve and Johnny both headed over the cross bar. A superb combination play on the left hand side involving Harrison, Kerr (who was solid all day) ended with Jo Jo cutting the ball back from the goal line for  Jack to fire home. 1-1 at half time.

St Peters dominated the second half. Mark made a run into the box and was brought down, “stone wall penalty” but not given Mark got back onto his feet only to chip the ball onto the cross bar, gutted . Natasha made some good runs and movement into space on the left hand side but the boys where unable to get the ball to her on a regular enough basis to punish a stretched St Paul’s

St Paul’s came strong in the last 10 minutes, the defence stood firm having to deal with St Paul’s relentless right winger who was a thorn in our side all afternoon.

> Well done to all the team, deserved to win and would have done had it not been for the St Paul’s keeper. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
