1st Team Cruise into the Jeremie Cup Semi Final

St Peter and there loyal band of supporters travelled to Guernsey to play their Crosskey counterparts Sylvans.

The game started with St Peter maintaining possession and passing the ball well and it was not long before Sylvans committed a foul from which we were able to put into practice a free kick routine from the training ground that worked perfectly except the final shot.

Shortly after Sylvans played a long through ball which looked harmless until the ball held up in the long grass, Ryan stood his ground and his save took the pace off the shot which enabled James Hunt to recover to clear from the goal line.

After 25 minutes we gained a corner and once again from a training ground set play we created the opportunity for captain Quinny to score, now there were two versions of the events, (1) Quinny scored a 25 yard screamer (2) Quinny played a through ball which ended in the net!. in the second half Half time arrived with the score at 1 – 0.

Early in the second half Sylvans scored to equalise but within minutes Captain Quinny lofted a free kick into the Sylvans 6 yards box where Coxy rose above everyone to let the ball slide off the side of his head and roll across the line. With only 3 minutes left to play Sylvans were awarded a penalty which they converted and so we entered the lottery of a penalty shoot out.

Up stepped the captain who scored first. Then Jody, then Kendall, then Franco (who hit post and missed!!). Ellis squeezed one under the goalie. The Jon Jefferson scored a nice one. Then Coxy leathered one right down the middle for the winner. 6-5 in pens!!

The supporters were happy, Tom was beaming and the team got their reward for there consistent belief in the coaching that they receive.

All of the players and coaching staff would like to thank loyal supports for their continued support as it is great to see that you have as many supporters if not more even when you are away from home!
