Our young under 18’s team are growing in strength, also when they play for each other as a team they are a joy to watch. With Captain Sol pulling all the strings around him they play some fantastic football. As you may know Grouville have all the top age players but we may be young but we have all the talent.
Both teams had players missing and going into the fixture and I was a bit apprehensive, however after 10 minutes it was a case of how many.
Big Mat commanded his area when he was called upon, which was very rare. As the back four Ben, Luke, Max and McTavish as a defensive unit they were rock solid. A mention to the under 16’s Toby Jan and Ryan these lads improve with every game and did not look out of place. Olavo and Hugo done what was asked and had decent games. Then Jack and El’s none stop running and energy helped the team be so creative, forcing them into mistakes.
As I said before Sol’s passing and delivery had Grouville up the wall and goals from El, Ben young Jan and McTavish gave us a convincing 4-0 victory. So we finish this year going into the last bit of this long hard season Top of the league by 3 points, let’s hope this continues.
See yer next year.
U11’s 1 St Pauls B 2.
What a fantastic afternoon. All 16 boys/girl played superbly and everyone gave their all. A really exciting finish and on another day they would have got the result. St Pauls were also good though but overall I really believe we were the stronger side. Some really positive things today though and playing like a team.
Well done guys/girl, we are all proud of you!
Ryan Hall Man of the Match, Felix Taylor our goal scorer.
Another great match today, result perhaps a little unfortunate after all 14 of our players gave so much and did so well to lose 3-4 was a real shame. Sydney Smith 2 and Henry Alderson 1 with the goals.
The result isn’t the important thing, the lessons learnt and the enjoyment playing together was there to see. The last quarter was heart attack inducing for both teams and we go again next week against St Lawrence at our new home….St George’s School.
Match Report Wanderers U11 B away.
Our under 13’s hosted a decent St Pauls team at Sunny St Georges, we set out with three at the back and I must say Rocco was superb putting a fantastic display. In our goal, straight off the boat Harry G was quality and keeping them at bay when required, also saving a penalty. H and Baz up top found the net a good few times but the work they put in off the ball was quality and yes the got the rewards with Baz getting 4 and H 2, Le Mush Sam and Reef worked hard and moved the ball well but they were solid in the middle and Reef chipped in with a bullet header (take a bow son).
But they’ll tell you I don’t care about scores it’s all about development and this bunch will progress to a decent squad of lads.
Sometimes its a joy to watch and this game was a real Joy finishing 7-2 our boys went home happy (so did I)
The boys away to a hard working Wanderers team and to be fare our boys weren’t at the races. With Ben and new signing Luke in the middle of the park all looked good on paper. But football is never easy teams don’t roll over they want a result also. the game finished 2 goals a piece with Jack and Eliot both scoring for us. Playing during half term doesn’t help, plus now being told St Pauls have pulled out the League so we have 4 League games left which I still fancy us to get something.
lets stay positive and retain our silverware.
You can’t beat a good semi-final game under the lights at Les Quennivais against a solid Grouville team. We played them on Sunday in the league which turned out to be a tight affair, but after a tight first 15 minutes our boys started to get a grip on the match. With Josh away Big Mat was in goal and he was solid throughout and Mr Brave heart controlling his defence we looked very solid at the back. Our central midfielder’s Olavo and Tommy were quality in the middle. But every game needs a goal to kick start the passion, it came after 25 minutes the ball found its way to Sol on the edge he twisted and turn then top punted it and it luckily for us went under their goalkeepers body 1-0 to us. That was soon to be Two in a following move tommy found Sol who split the defence and Ryan finished it off 2-0 HT.
We had a good chat about Sundays game so we needed to be focused and up for the challenge and these lads as a team were top draw, working and playing as a team throughout. The 3rd goal was going to be all important and then it came a fantastic ball from Olavo and this created a one on one race with Elliot and Grouville’s keeper, a 50/50 clash and the ball landed to Sol’s feet on the edge he moved left and right then he lashed it into the roof of the net wow top strike. The boys new the game wasn’t over as they kept pushing forward but again our defence with Jan Kacper, Ben also playing their part in keeping them at bay. Then came a forth a good interchange with Toby James Elliot and Sol and he settled himself and slotted it into the corner for his deserved Hat trick. Yes they got a conciliation goal in the last minute but what a fantastic team performance and St Peter well deserved winners.
A final to forward too well done to all involved.
The sun was out and our under 13’s squad welcomed St Brelade’s to St Georges. At this age I tell the boys scores mean nothing to me and they need to enjoy the game whilst developing as players, a few stand out performance’s Harry Glad in goal Rocco was a changed and much improved player at the back up to H and Archie up top, then the young guns Mush, Baz and Demo didn’t look out of place but the whole team were fantastic. Remember 5 of them had rugby in the morning imagine them all being fresh. The game finished 4-3 to us with goals from H got 2, Demo and Baz but to have good game you need two teams and credit to St Brelade’s players and coaches who played the game also in the correct way. All smiles and sportsmanship at the end but take it from me this team will develop into a fantastic group of players.
Thanks to all parents and Harry the Ref he was also fantastic.
Under 18’s playing away to the so called favourite’s, not on my watch. I said to the lad before the game get at them don’t let them settle but remember play as a team. Josh came in for Mat in goal and he was a big presence and had a marvellous game, as for the back four marshalled by Mr Braveheart, Kacper was also solid but Ben and Luke outstanding. The engine in the middle Tommy was quality supported by Olavo and Jack who rattled the post late on. Hugo bagged a hat trick and Ryan notched one which they deserved with the none stop running. Sol’s class pulled all the strings and his ball delivery was top draw even getting one from distance, you may say it’s a cross but I’ve seen it many times. Elliott and Ryan where a treat throughout. We did go 4-1 up and we knew they would back at us we’ll learn from that especially picking up from set pieces. But a 5-4 victory put’s back on top of the tree for now it will be a hard struggle but I know with this team they’ll give it a good go.
Thanks to both teams who played the game in the right way but for now the Reigning Channel Island Champions are back on top where they belong.
Next up Grouville again in the cup on Wednesday at LQ
St. Peter’s vs Jersey wanderers u16 Cup,
Great performance from the lads on Wednesday evening at Les Quennevais.
Following the win on Sunday we went out and put in the best performance of the season so far, a good 7-0 win but could of been a lot more.
Goal scored by Ryan (hat trick)1 direct from a corner, Jan(2) and singles by Tommy and Damien.
Danny and Damien playing up a year never looked out of place,
James was taking control of the midfield not much went past him, completely solid in the middle of the pitch.
The back four was Solid yet again with Kacper keeping them well organised,
Dan made a few good saves when called upon.
Well done lads. Let’s keep working hard, to bring back some silverware this season.
#stpetersgreatest #redandwhite #intosemifinal.
Karl and Rui
The team were superb today. Everyone of them played their hearts out, played good football and were so unlucky not to hold on.
1-1 draw with St Pauls B, who fielded 1 year 5 player. We fielded 12 year 5’s of 14 players. St Pauls equalised in the last 10 minutes. Felix Taylor scored the U11’s first goal of the season with a fine header from Lara Vieiras superb corner.
