On the second day of the 2014 ‘Everton F.C. Soccer Camp’ we were delighted to be visited by BBC Radio Jersey. They were very keen to find our more about the camp, (now in its 10th year), interview the coaches, players and also Academy Chairman Brian Foulser.
The Everton coaches talked to BBC Jersey about their experience of the camp, St Peter F.C. and Jersey itself. The St Peter F.C. youth soccer camp is the largest run by Everton anywhere in the world (in terms of numbers of players) and the coaches were very positive in their praise for the island and the event.
Next to be interviewed were 2 players from the 150 strong contingent, one of whom is in his 8th year of attendance. The boys were were quizzed about their thoughts on the event, the role the JFA could play in improving football, and also the emergence of women’s football in the island.
Brian Foulser (Academy Chairman) also talked about the progression of girls and women’s football in Jersey and also shared his thoughts on whether Jersey deserves a semi-professional side in the near future, like Guernsey.
If you would like to hear the BBC’s radio coverage of the event, you can listen to Kevin Pamplin’s show on the iPlayer (5th August 2014 at approximately 18:20) and tune into the breakfast show on 6th August 2014 from around 07:20 onwards.
