Ladies Match Report

St-Peter-Ladies---Oct-2013-001A funny game today. At times I stood on the touch line smiling and thinking we have finally started to look comfortable to receive the ball and pass into penetrating positions

Leading 1-0 through a great strike by Sandra and back in the game with a cooly taken goal by Shannon we were playing well and were on equal terms with the more established and experience Grouville ( First Tower)  Team.

Then at times I stood on the touch line thinking why have we done that and why don’t we want the ball?

Despite being 4-2 down at HT I thought we were still very much in the game and when we had played to our strengths we had done well.

Second half started with us under constant pressure and unable to clear our lines so it was no surprise when Grouville scored again but great credit to us when we got ourselves back in the game by scoring a third through Sophie.

And then we stopped playing …………………………

…or at least playing to our strengths!Get the ball out wide !!!!St-Peter-Ladies---Oct-2013-002

The JEP reported Grouville then took control as a result of their greater fitness levels I totally disagree as we are a fit team. Grouville won the last 15 mins because we did not work as a team hence the totally unrealistic final score line of 10-3.

It’s nice that people continue to recognise how far we have come as a team as happened a lot after the game. It’s nice that people recognised that the final score was harsh or does not reflect the game, but it’s no consolation.Positives a plenty Katy at CB Aimee at CB Twinkle out wide and Chantelle some outstanding saves including a penalty. Scoring 3 goals in one game.Remember whilst we are now considered an established team today was only our 20th game together as a team. We are not doing too bad and will continue to get better as we train hard to be able to understand the game and subsequently play hard.
