Match report by Colin Pack:
The Reserves team added to their trophy haul this season by winning the Dog Cup Trophy 2-1 against tough competition from Jersey Wanderers.
The game, held at Springfield on 14th May 2013, was played in bad weather for the time of year. The game began with St Peter playing into a strong wind and Wanderers had the better of the possession. Fortunately though they did not trouble Goalkeeper Ryan in goal too much.
With about 10 minutes of the first half remaining, we broke away down the left hand side and Tristan Lee cut from the wing and struck the ball sweetly into the far side of the net!
After half time St Peter had the better of the possession and forced several good saves from the Wanderers keeper.
With less than 10 minutes left wanderers broke through and their player was brought down in the penalty area. Wanderers scored to make it all square and put the pressure right back on to St Peter FC Reserves.
With less than 2 minutes to go and with everyone planning for extra time, Ryan le Couteur launched a long ball down pitch. The monster kick bounced through to the Wanderers keeper who, under pressure from the advancing forwards, took his eye off the ball momentarily.
The ball bounced free and when James Lynch tried to obtain possession, he was grappled to the ground and a penalty was awarded. Up stepped the ever youthful Gary Freeman to score from the spot to secure the victory!
From the management team well done to all of the squad for a very successful season. We completed a league and cup double and all involved should be really proud of this magnificent achievement!
