St Peter U14 v St Clement U14

21-9-2014 – St Peter U14  2 – 4  St Clement U14

Our second match of the season ended in a 4-2 defeat after a close contest played in the right spirit. In a match of contrasting styles both teams created many goal scoring opportunities over the 70 minutes. St Peter played some excellent football trying to play the ball on the floor as much as possible endeavouring to implement the possession style of football which we have been working hard at in training. St Clement used their counter attacking football to good effect throughout and after a few good openings in front of goal for our attackers the opening goal came from one such counter attack to put us behind. The boys responded in the right way to this disappointment and after an excellent run by Jack Bara which resulted in a penalty, Olavo Soares confidently stepped up to convert to bring the score to 1-1, unfortunately shortly after another counter attack resulted in St Clement taking a 2-1 lead on the stroke of half time. The second half continued with some more excellent play by St Peter and a few great chances which unfortunately we were unable to take, as sometimes happens in football, despite all our hard work and build up play the footballing gods were not smiling on us and two long range efforts from St Clement put us 4-1 behind. Despite this setback we continued with the right attitude and were finally rewarded with a second goal, after great build up play in midfield by Dan De La Perrelle the ball arrived with Jack Bara who rounded the keeper and put the ball into an empty net to make it 4-2 and conclude the scoring for the day.
