Continuing on from our previous outing, we again started at a high tempo, not allowing Wanderers the space to play there football, in a tight first half we defended resolutely restricting them to a couple of half chances which were excellently dealt with by the defence led by big Stephen Le Maiste and young Ciaran Pack in goal pulling off an excellent save from a close range header, we always looked dangerous on the break, attacking with purpose and creating a couple of half chances ourselves.
Onto the second half and again we started strong, 15 minute in, a deflected Reece Dornan free kick resulted in a goal mouth scramble, with under 16 Jody Byrne being in the right place to poke the ball home to give us a 1-0 lead. This forced Wanderers to shuffle there pack, moving Fraser Barlow and Francis Lekimamati up front, Fraser s direct running was now causing us a few problems and he did race clear to equalise.
Despite this we were still dangerous and could have retaken the lead after Jack Dallas Chapman’s effort was saved the rebound fell to Jake, who unfortunately couldn’t find the target. Wanderers took the lead with 15 minutes remaining through Barlow finishing after a fine through ball.
To our credit we did not let our heads drop and with a couple of minutes remaining Jack had a great chance to equalise but there keeper made a good save and from there we were hit on the break to fall 3-1 behind, another strike right on time gave Wanderers a flattering 4-1 victory, We didn’t get what we deserved but a superb effort from St Peters.
